Zoo trip

The Claytons gave us some free tickets to the children's zoo and the train, so we went to the zoo today to use them! Thanks Claytons!

I thought this was an interesting sign. :) Notice that they ask a very good question... "So how did they wind up looking and acting the same?"  In other words, how come two different birds 'evolved' to be soooo complex and amazing? There isn't an answer on this sign- but I think I have one: Because they didn't evolve; they were created by an AMAZING and wonderful Creator. I'm into some veeeerrrry complicated Science in High School (At least I think it's complicated!) and I keep being amazed by how amazingly ordered and well-designed this universe is! The one problem is- It's so hard to understand it all, so I'm... uh, not getting the best grades on my tests. :( It's so fun to learn about all of this, but then to understand and remember it all... yikes! :) And if I struggle to learn and understand all of this, then how could all of this complexity and order have evolved by random, accidental mutations? There is absolutely NO WAY that that ever could have happened. The only logical explanation for our world is: God is our amazing, creative, intelligent, wise, wonderful, all-knowing, all-powerful (and the list goes on and on) Creator.

I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvelous are thy works, and that my soul knoweth right well. (Psalm 139:14, KJV)

But anyway, back to the zoo...

The train

No, we don't all smile for pictures at the same time. It just doesn't happen. No matter what family picture you look at, not one of them will show all of us smiling sweetly. :) Not that we don't smile at all, we just don't all smile at the same exact time. :D

Look at those big eyes! :)

Gloria and Bjorn- so cute! :)

Blog Birthday!!!

This blog was started exactly one year ago today! When we started it, we had some pretty high expectations for Peterson Family Singers. It hasn't taken off like we hoped it would, but that's okay... it's been one of the things that has been put aside this summer. With Grandpa and Grandma Davis moving into Shady Oaks, and all the work that has had to be done there (TONS of remodeling, yard work, garden planting, painting and filling the pool, etc.), we've had plenty to keep us busy. We've even forgone our possible trip to Montana this summer so Papa could build the back porch onto our own house. This just hasn't been the best time to get Peterson Family Singers off the ground- but maybe next year; we'll see what God does. If Peterson Family Singers is His will, He'll give us the right opportunities. If not, He has some other plan for us!

Drama Club

We had a little excitement before drama club today. It was 1:50 (drama club starts at 2:00) and Thor was going down to the basement to get something when he yelled at me to come quickly. I went and saw a liquid dripping onto the basement stairs. It didn't take me long to figure out that it was coming from the big bottle of flea poison that we bought today! I had sprayed the rug with it awhile before, and apparently I didn't put it back properly. Well anyway, we got Papa who fixed the problem and told us to clean it up- then he went back to his work. That's when we heard the front door slam. So then we had a choice: we could either freak out because there was flea poison all over the stairs and we had a whole bunch of people there ready for drama club and we still hadn't finished setting up and Mom wasn't there- OR: we could just laugh and clean up the flea poison and say "never a dull moment!" We chose option #2. :) So... after everyone else showed up, we started drama club! :)

One of our actresses, Tonya, emailed today to say she wouldn't be able to make it to the performance!  They had a change of plans and so will be out of town. With only two weeks until the performance, I was freaking out (just a little bit!) wondering how we would be able to find someone in time. Tonya was the Princess in Group 2, and although she didn't have too many lines, it's still a very important part. So- because her sister is already in that group and has been working on her lines at home, and because she's a very good actress, and because she memorizes quickly and well, and because she was gracious enough to take this on and do all the extra work that this requires, Kalei Swogger will be taking over the role of Princess Genevieve! :) We were considering the other girls in Group 1 as well (Carin and Caris) for the role, but since Kalei's sister Shelby is already in Group 2 and Kalei has been helping her with her lines so she's already familiar with the part, we asked Kalei. :)

Kalei's and Shelby's "big sister" Marjorie came to game time today! She isn't really their big sister, but she's a great friend of their family. :) She was telling us about some drama games she had played in the past. We asked her to lead the group in one, and she agreed! Thank you Marjorie! :)

I finally got some pictures during snacktime! :)
I love the gleam in Shelby's eyes. :)

Jared :)
