Insanity

"I know why they take the heads off chickens! 'Cause you might eat it. And you'd accidentally eat its brain. Then you'd think like a chicken!"

Lyceum

I have completely forgotten to post about Lyceum. I might be more motivated if I had pictures, but I can't exactly take pictures while in class, and every spare moment is spent playing Ninja... ;) So, I'll just share some funny moments of the day.

One happened in Lyceum Singers:
Mom asked, "Who knows when the Declaration of Independence was signed?" Of course just about everyone's hand went up... she chose a person at random to answer: "July 4, 1776." But then a couple girls jumped in and corrected, "Well, actually it was all spread out... some signed on July 2nd, some signed on July 4th, some signed on July 6th, some signed..." and a History debate broke out.
"Hold it; hold it!" Mom stopped the debate and was told, "Never ask homeschoolers History questions." Hmm... good advice...

Anyway, she did have a point to that question. ;) It turns out that on July 4, 1826, exactly fifty years after the official signing of the Declaration of Independence, both Thomas Jefferson and John Adams died... and on that very same day, Stephen Foster was born. Stephen Foster is our "Composer of the Semester". An interesting fact from History...
Another funny thing happened on the way to Lyceum, when Knut was talking with his friend Johnathan about something funny/nonsensical. He was saying something about "going around the earth", and Mom said,
"Knut, use a big word! Like, 'circumnavigate' or something." So Knut corrected himself, in a very superior, educated tone: "...He will circumnavigate the globe, and..."

Glorpes

 New members of the family:

Meet Frodo:

And Frank:

Made by yours truly. By the way, glorpe-making is extremely messy... want some photo evidence?

^Glorpe feet.

After the mess I made last time, I was "strongly discouraged" from using the dining room table to cut out glorpes, so I had to make do with the laundry room floor. ;)

Slightly messy...

Slightly more messy...

Daily Family Insanity is moving to post format.

Daily Family Insanity will now be posted, instead of on the sidebar, as a post. Maybe it will help keep me from feeling guilty about not blogging. ;)

Do you want to hear the excuses? No? I thought not. Okay, then just assume whatever you like... keeping in mind that I'm a high school student with lots of schoolwork. :D

And, if you happen to want to hear more about us, help me convince my siblings to start blogging!

You may expect a few posts in the next few hours, however.

And for some insanity:

Cecily: (Comparing multiplying fractions to actions) ...And they all have their inverse functions. You can turn OFF the  light, you can get OUT of bed, you can OPEN your eyes, and you can WAKE UP.
Sylvia: *laughs* What a homeschooler… nice!
Gloria: *laughs*
Sylvia: Gloria, you didn't understand that!
Gloria: Welll… it sounded kinda funny!

Complete and Utter Silliness

This morning in church, a little while before the anthem, Papa had something stuck in his teeth and went to go get it out. I and the rest of the choir assembled up in the loft, and Mom sat down at the organ. It was time to sing, but... where was Papa? Well, Mom started playing the introduction, cued the choir from the organ, and we managed to come in just fine. A couple pages into the piece, Papa came hurrying in and started directing with a guilty look on his face.
