Odin 5K

Peterson Family Singers sang the national anthem before the race.

After the race... about to collapse...

Sadly enough, Papa beat ALL of us kids... by a LOT.

Papa won second place in his age division... and so did I. (I'm guessing there were only two girls aged 15-19? :D Either that, or there was someone even slower than me...)

THANK YOU SO MUCH TO GRANDPA DAVIS FOR THE VIDEO AND PICS!! :) :)

An Announcement

Once again, thank you so much to those of you who were praying for us when we went through the miscarriage of Enoch. It's been very difficult... I can't believe how much I can miss someone that I've never met. But God is so good. I'm thrilled to announce that He will be giving us another baby sometime around Thanksgiving! Ironically enough, that's when we announced that Mom was pregnant with Enoch. We don't know yet whether this baby will be a boy or a girl... Mom's next ultrasound is in June... on what was Enoch's due date. Coincidence? Perhaps... but I'd rather take it as a sign that God is reminding us that He's still with us. :)

There is no way that this baby will ever replace Enoch, but he/she will be loved and treasured so much more because of that loss.

Oh, and did I mention that we are TREMENDOUSLY excited????!!!!!!!!!!! :D :D :D

*insert interesting post title here*

This will be a fairly newsy post with some randomness, lots of updates, and a few pictures. So, if you're not really interested in what's going on in our lives, stop reading here! :D

First of all, school "officially" ended today! I still have some work that I'll be doing throughout the summer for mostly-valid reasons, and Thor has a bit of work that he still has to do for not-so-valid reasons, but everyone else is done (except for music practice).

Secondly, we (Papa, Sylvia, Knut, Cecily, and Thor) have been going running every other day to train for a 5K we're doing next Saturday. It's not exactly the most fun thing to get up early for, but it's been getting easier! The Peterson Family Singers will be singing the national anthem right before the race, so we've all been practicing Papa's arrangement of that... in four-part harmony! Although Knut's voice hasn't really begun to change yet, he can manage the tenor very well. He sounds amazing! We're singing the same arrangement at our town's Memorial Day service, along with America the Beautiful.

Thirdly, I'm leading Drama Club again this summer, and tryouts are in one week! My wonderful co-leader of last year moved away, so my friend Sarah is taking her place. We have 23 people signed up (counting my siblings). We will be performing A Little Princess (based on the novel by Frances Hodgeson Burnett) and The Great Cookie Caper (from actsoflight.com). I was really getting worried, because two days ago we still weren't sure what plays we would do. I had ordered 5 perusal scripts and looked at countless others online, but nothing would suit our purposes. It was really by the grace of God that we found scripts in time! These will be very challenging to put on, so I'll certainly be continuing to rely on God's grace throughout the summer. We can't do it without Him! :)

Fourthly, Grandpa's and Grandma's pool is now open. We went swimming today for the first time this summer!

Lastly (and most important, in my very humble opinion...), I have my permit!!

My wonderful, forbearing father took me for a drive right after we picked it up from the high school. :) He's a great teacher! I now have to log 45.5 more hours to get my license. :D

Insanity

Bjorn: *falls over dramatically*
Cecily: What's wrong with him??
Mom: He died of over yumminess. Boy, he's ready for Drama! How many four-year-olds do you know that will take a bite (of a cookie bar), close their eyes, and drop down to the floor? *acts it out*
[Our family can be waaaayyyy overly dramatic at times... XD]

Mom: *yelling to Thor and Gloria* Dinner! Kids, COME!!!!!
*silence *
Sylvia: I guess they don't want any lunch!
Cecily: LUNCH????
Sylvia: Wait.... that was really blond, wasn't it...
Knut: Are you saying that blond means stupid??????

Thor: *reading a History question* ... known for his narrative poems about important national fingers....
Everyone else: Fingers????
Thor: important national FIGURES...

Sylvia: Knut, go outside and run sixteen laps around the house, THEN come back in. Maybe then you'll be calmed down a little.
Knut: Okay! *dashes out the door*
(A little while later...)
Knut: *walks into the girls' room, where Sylvia is doing school* I did it, Sylvia! All sixteen!
Sylvia: :O

Shakespeare

Knut had his Shakespeare performance on Saturday night! He did an amazing job. :) His group put on Introducing Shakespeare and Much Ado About Nothing. Knut played Mark Antony in Introducing Shakespeare and Moll Verges in Much Ado About Nothing. During his Mark Antony speech, he forgot his line... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wH3rWE_iQpQ

(I've been requested not to post the full performance, but if you would like to see the videos, please email me.) :)

Bright Lights

Cecily and I had our last meeting of Bright Lights tonight! :( I'll be so sad to leave this group; I've made so many wonderful friends, learned so much, and collected a truckload of great memories. For those of you who don't know, I'm starting a Bright Lights group this fall with my friend Jael (which is why Cecily and I won't be coming back to this group).

Completing surveys about this semester of Bright Lights

Karen videoing Cecily for a slideshow at the end of the year banquet this Friday. (Cecily and I will not be attending; the date conflicts with that of the Lyceum choir concert.) :(

The girl who is actually looking at the camera (and making a funny face and waving) is Harmony, who is probably the most dynamic girl in my small group. ;)

Small groups sharing testimonies... my group finished first, so I walked around and took a few quick pictures. ;)

Yeabsera... one of the very sweet girls in my small group. :)

Audi and Sophie, two more sweet girls from my small group...

Hannah, who is in my small group, and whom I've had the amazing privilege to get to know better through 4:12. 4:12 is a one-on-one discipleship group that has been meeting the opposite Tuesdays of the regular Bright Lights group. Hannah is incredibly mature, very wise, and really has a heart for the Lord. I've really enjoyed our time together, Hannah, and will definitely miss being able to see you every Tuesday!

Larissa, Brooke, and Taylor- Larissa is another sweet girl from my small group, and Brooke and Taylor are my co-leaders. It's been great getting to know them all better!

Since Cecily and I won't be at the banquet, I was in charge of activities for all the girls who would be missing it. There were 13 of us altogether. While everyone else was practicing reciting their scripture passages, rehearsing songs, and going through logistics, we were playing Do You Love Your Neighbor, Bible Taboo and Charades, and Heads Up Seven Up. Well... make that Heads Up Three Up, due to our fairly small group. :D Then we rejoined the rest of the group for snacks and fellowship. :)

Insanity

During family confession time tonight...
Thor: And then YESTERDAY, he...
Papa: Hold on a minute!!! You don't confess other people's sins! (puts on a funny voice) I'd like to confess something that Sylvia did... it was horrible! She was so mean to her poor Papa... teasing him...
Me: *giggles* I don't think that was a sin.

(Yes, I received permission to post this from both Thor and Papa.) ;)
